Just to add that a person who was abused or neglected did not internalised
self love and self afection because of lack of love and afection from the
caregiver. Both of these things can be cultivated and internalised by the
addict through meditation on loving kindness, or metta towards
    himself/herself.

Be prepared, however, for a big release of frustration and anger, though!
    Again, thank you, Dr Mate.

I am grateful to have been able to hear Dr. Mate speak in Colorado. I
really enjoy the knowledge he has to offer, especially for the “aboriginal
peoples.” He said as a keynote speaker on 1.28.14, “not until after
colonization, (aboriginal peoples) there was a drug problem…I call it
    ‘chemical warfare.'”
